Junk Removal Calgary

We show up, we load it, it's gone. Appliances, furniture, mattresses, garage and estate clean-outs across Calgary and Airdrie.

Star Disposal Services has been doing junk removal in Calgary since 1996. If it fits in the truck and it is not hazardous, we will take it — one appliance, a garage packed to the rafters, or a whole house that needs emptying before possession day.

This is the full-service side of what we do. You do not have to carry anything to the curb, take a door off its hinges, or borrow a truck. Point at the pile, and we handle the lifting, the loading, the sweep-up and the disposal run. Jobs start at $50, and you get the price before we start loading.

Below is every junk removal service we cover, each with its own page — what the job involves, what it costs to think about, and what we can and cannot take.

WHERE WE RUN

We run across Calgary — NW, NE, SW and SE — plus Airdrie, Cochrane and Chestermere.

Pick the job you have

Not sure which one you need?

Describe the job on the phone and we will tell you honestly which service costs you least — including when the answer is a bin rather than a haul.

01

Why people call us instead of renting a bin

A bin is the right answer when you are working over several days and generating debris as you go — a renovation, a re-roof, a big landscaping job. Junk removal is the right answer when the stuff already exists, it is heavy, and you do not want to touch it.

The other reason is access. Not every Calgary property can take a bin. Inner-city lots in Inglewood, Bridgeland and Ramsay have tight back alleys and short driveways. Condo and apartment buildings often have no legal place to set one down. In those cases a truck and two people is simply the faster, cleaner option.

If you are not sure which way to go, call and describe the job. We will tell you honestly which one costs you less — including when the answer is a bin rather than a haul.

02

What junk removal costs in Calgary

Pricing comes down to volume and weight. A single item at the curb is a $50-and-up job. A packed single-car garage is a truckload. A full house clear-out is usually more than one trip, which we will tell you up front rather than discovering halfway through.

Two things move the price beyond volume: weight and stairs. Concrete, dirt, shingles and plaster are heavy enough that landfill tipping fees drive the cost, not the space they take. And anything coming down from a third-floor walk-up or up from a basement takes longer than the same load sitting in a driveway.

We quote before we load. If the pile turns out to be bigger than described on the phone, you hear the revised number before anything goes in the truck — not after.

03

What happens to it after we drive away

Metal gets pulled out and taken to a scrap yard rather than the landfill — that is why scrap metal and appliance jobs are often cheaper than their volume suggests. Clean yard waste goes to a compost facility. Electronics go through Alberta's recycling program. What is left goes to the City of Calgary landfill and we pay the tipping fee.

We are not going to pretend everything gets diverted. A load of broken particleboard furniture is landfill. But sorting the metal and the yard waste out of a load is genuinely worth doing, and we do it as a matter of course.

FAQ

Junk Removal questions

Do I have to be home when you pick up?

No. Plenty of our jobs are alley pickups, side-yard piles and garage clear-outs where the customer is at work. As long as we can get to the items and we have agreed the price and the payment method beforehand, you do not need to be there.

How fast can you come?

Often the same day, especially for smaller loads booked in the morning. We answer the phone from 8 AM to 8 PM seven days a week — call 403-509-2783 and we will tell you honestly what today looks like.

Do you do the loading, or do I?

We do. That is the difference between junk removal and a bin rental. You point at what is going and we carry it out, including down stairs and out of basements.

What will you not take?

No hazardous waste — paint, solvents, motor oil, chemicals, propane tanks, asbestos or anything with a hazard symbol on it. Those go to a City of Calgary household hazardous waste drop-off, which is free for residents. We also do not handle biohazard or medical waste.

Do you serve Airdrie as well as Calgary?

Yes. Airdrie is a regular run for us, along with Cochrane and Chestermere. There is no surcharge for Airdrie on a normal-sized load.
